I heard it's a good tire and it should fit. Talking bout tires i just pick up a new to me Motoz Tractionator Enduro I/T (120/90-18 Autralian made). The Distributor & friend of mine said he got great feedback from Baja riders that used it. It sticks to all terrains & it's a DOT tire too. I still love the Maxxis Desert I/T though.

thanks for the information!

Springs.....

Muddler and Numbers, thanks for the replies on suggested spring rates. Muddler, I'll have a look at the procycle calculator, but I'm thinking 050/5.7 might be the best compromise for me.

I'll check out the Bremer rider, I think I still have the details for soex somewhere. You going on the Israelite Easter run?

Cheers,

Adrian

Well, My newest farkle aint pretty, but so far, it seems to be working!
I've been having real problems with my 04 S (36000Kms) dying in the cold after start up, and upon stopping on a highway light up to 15 minutes after starting.....The rain makes it worse as well.....

It's becoming a bit of a pain when trying to leave work at midnight in January in -2C, so I did what I've seen done to many cars and trucks around northern BC, and I put cardboard in front of my radiators!!! I attatched it to the stock "guards".

Didn't die stopping at the light tonight, so if I notice it helps enough, I might make something a little better out of plastic or aluminum.. I'll keep an eye on the fan to see if it comes on, but I have my doubts it will, since It still gets airflow at the ends, and one side is still exposed.

If you do cover the radiators, one of these might keep your mind at ease: (Copied from the Trailtech website)

  • Engine, water, or air temperature
  • Sensor options for all standard radiator hoses, oil lines and spark plugs
  • User selectable display: 30-500F or 0-260C
  • Measures current and maximum temperature, resettable
  • Spinning-arrow activity icon
  • Flashing dot indicates 6 second sample rate
  • Spinning-arrow activity icon
  • Peel-n-Stick or Bolt-on

Cam chain tensioner was upgraded in 2003

Buy a manual CCT or one from a 2003 and up.

Suspension was upgraded in 2002 as mentioned.

There are also torque value changes but other than that it's been the "Bold New Graphics"

Make sure you go on Thumpertalk to learn all of the tricks on a DRZ. Main thing is to check that front sprocket nut. These must be installed with red loctite or they come loose. Then the oil seal behind them will weep.

I did Israelite last summer with Dennis. Great trip, but I have to save my Annual Leave for the Anne Beadell Hwy in June. PM me if you need the Bremer info.
Good luck with the springs
Cheers

Your problem is carb icing. You are running a BSR.

You need item 63and 64

https://www.thumpertalk.com/shop/oem...004&model=5310

Well known problem with the S in those conditions. Some countries the parts are stock (delivered installed). When I lived in Abbotsford it was a real problem. I never did do the fix though as I moved after the second winter.

I don't recommend covering the rads. It helps but it doesn't actually fix the problem. The vapour is nice but again you aren't really fixing the problem. If you go to TT thee are several threads on it from 5-6 years ago. Last I checked the parts were <$100

drz400s lighting upgrade

I am using my drz more and my sprint less and less on our norcal mountain roads. Anyone recommend a lighting upgrade? The stocker is barely usable on the twisty roads at night.
