Rode a Super Tenere and New honda 250

Had a chance to ride the 1200 yamaha super tenere last night......sweet for a big bike, great long distance rough road bike. The new honda 250 street legal liquid cooled inverted fork fuel injected dual sport for 500$ cheaper than the yamaha 250XT just got here.

Bill, you just let me know when you get one of THESE in, mmkay? I'm looking hard at the new '13 CRF450R, but I'm waiting a little bit to see what the reviews on it are. When I get a new bike every 9 years, I don't want it to be a turd!

New bikes

Speedster you just missed the Dakar that came and went.......altho it was called a trans alp and would need to travel thru the time warp tunnel to get from 1989 to present. One of the latest dakar bikes maybe can be ordered just remit your $900,000 deposite. We already have the air forks special pump and gauge set ordered for the 13 CR450.

Ha. Yeah, we got 8 - 10" of the white stuff in BoZo (more closer to the mountains). How much did you get up in Helena?

that....maybe a touch more. The wife could not get up the driveway with her new AWD car! I wasn't even close to getting up it in the work car, I have got to get that ATV back together and the plow on it soon.

Measured 16 inches on a table in the yard, westside. Finally above zero.

Holy Cow, a little quiet around here. Just thought I'd give it a bump to see if anybody is around. Sorry, I've been in the Basement playing with Jo Momma, but thought I'd check in to say "hi"!

Time to think outside the box

It was 2F when I got up this morning which set me to thinking of a trip to Death Valley. This would of course involve a trailer for the bike to Death Vally or at least to Lost Wages, NV. According to Mapquest it is 1013 miles from Helena to Death Valley National Park. That would entail a couple days down and a couple days back or one day driving with two drivers. So, leaving on Saturday and returning the following Sunday yields five days of riding in the desert. Here's the average high and low temperatures: JAN--H 67F L 40F FEB--H 73F L 46F MAR--H 82F L 55F APR-- H 91F L 62F Today Death Valley highs are 33-36 in the mountains and 55-58 at Furnace Creek; tonight lows are 14-17 in the mountains and 55-58 at Furnace Creek. But, February and March look to have pretty good temperatures, sort of like summer in Montana. A run to Key West, FL would be nice too, but that would involve a few more days riding to get there. Anyway, it is probably time to be thinking outside the box.

Trailered to Henderson NV in Nov. A fewvyears ago, and near Yosemit CA in May the last few years. Always alot of snow on Monida, and Donner, but worth it.

2013 Best of the Montana 1000

All: It is never too early to plan, so here's a link for a back country ride Timmer is planning. He has been on the last three MT 1000 rides and wants to do it again.
