Just picked up a new F700gs, Ostra Grey with heated grips, and top case as part of the deal. Very nice bike and I'm looking forward to putting many miles on it.

Congrats. Looks Identical to mine with the exception of the indicators, mine are smaller LED ones. I guess they have to meet local regulations so the US ones are bigger.

Get a bash plate lots of good ones out there would not reccomend the bmw one look else where

Really? Bash plate first? It was 4th on my list (of course my bike came with panniers...):
first get a seat, then a screen, then crashbars, then the plate

If u are going to go offroad at all with it bashplate is a must first i would say alot can get damaged fast i got one for around 175 pretty cheap but its perfect and work well. I still have stgock seat on mine they breakin alittle but yes they suck. Whatever ur main reason/use for the bike will determine the order of whats needed first

Thanks for all the great replies. Going to ride it for a bit before I start adding stuff. Riding will be mostly back roads, city and some gravel. No major offroad riding planned.

I was hesitating between this new 700GS (I love this color) and a second-hand yellow 800GS less expensive but with great gear on it.

Finally the 800 wins but the 700's a really great bike.

Congratulations, great looking bike. Similar to my F650 only improved. My first order of business was to improve the wind/weather protection a bit and the seat. I understand BMW may have improved the seat from the F650? The F800GS windshield is worlds better yet still looks and fits great. They often pop up used when F800 owners "move up" to a big windshield and it bolts right on. I later added TourTech hand-guards and a Sargent flat seat.

Have put 250 miles on the bike in one week and am very pleased with it.

After reading this board, I have added techron to my fuel. I dont know if BMW has sorted that issue, but I figure some preventative actions on my part cant hurt. Wind screen is fine for me but if I were to be doing much interstate riding a tall screen would be in order. Seat is crap after about 30 mins. Any recommendations on tire psi for gravel. Mine were set to spec and it was a little rough.

When I have my air compressor along I air down to around 22 pounds in the front and 24 in the rear. This is well above what you'd be running on a dirt bike but still makes a huge improvement. When I'm on gravel and dirt roads and I don't have the compressor I just suffer along with the hard pressures.
