Jackets and Jeans

+1 for riding pants suggestions.

I am another one who rides in a Shoei, a nice thick Alpinestars, Held gloves, and Lucky jeans. I have seen the armored spandex pants you can wear under jeans, but the Bohn website looks a little scammy to me. And Draggin Jeans seem to get pretty good reviews, but I haven't pulled the trigger on a pair yet. Any other manufacturers that folks can recommend?

I wanted an upgrade from jeans, so I'm trying out a pair of the fire hose pants. So far the are way better at keeping the wind out then jeans.

For cold weather, I use Aerostich AD1 pants, and welcome the extra wind cutting.

When it's warm, Or if I dont have a place to store the overpants, I'll use draggin Jeans Kevlar underpants, with loose fit jeans over the top. This set-up doesn't offer impact protection, but at least covers abrasion risk.

i go the double front carharrt pants and firehouse double front logger pants route. i realize they are not armored riding pants.

Knee pads are much cheaper than knee caps. Three surgeries, a skin graft, 36 staples and way too many stitches, and that was while wearing heavy duty leather pants, but w/o knee pads...

I'm really getting used to individual knee/shin armor coupled with padded D30 padded hip underwear, slip it on before the ride (or put the knee armor outside) and wear any pants I want. At least I know it will stay in place when it counts.

I'll probably do the same with upper body protection, get stand alone elbow/shoulder and back protection this way I can wear whatever jacket I want.

I hate riding down the road with the feeling all my built in armor just isn't going to be in the right place when I need it.

I have a pair of those, but don't think they are going to hold up much better than regular jeans. Instead of wearing through after 20 feet of sliding they may last another 10 feet.

My high speed ish (55-60mph) was in a KBC helmet, leather gloves, jacket....jeans and nikes

Stood up in nothing but a helmet, leather gloves, leather jacket, and....blood and road rash lol.

Now, Full motoport, gloves, and boots ALLL THE TIME everytime.

Accident was less than 1 mile from my house.

For knee/shin protection I have the Alpinestars Vapor Knee Guard, I did modify them to eliminate the Velcro straps I can't stand Velcro. Bought some 1" nylon straps with clips from the Wal Mart camping section and sewed them in place, way more secure than the elastic straps with Velcro.

For hip armor I'm using the Icon Stryker hip guards, I wear them over my underwear. Not too bulky so they fit nice under jeans.

Right now I'm using a Joe Rocket Speedstar leather jacket, it's the ONLY jacket I have that keeps the armor where it's needed, I'm guessing because of it's tight fitting sleeves and body


I'm going to have to figure out what to do in the hotter weather, maybe a Bohn solution or another type of separate fitted armor pieces.

No more combination jacket & armor.
