KLR and Chrome Polish... Help needed
Yup, you read it right. I used chrome polish on my KLR650 tonight. Both front and back wheels. And... It gets worse... I did the spokes too
![]() I think I am going a bit stir crazy with the lack of riding due to winter. It was 15*F for a high and -1* for a low with lots of snow in SLC so not too motivated to get on the bike. This is my rationalization for using the polish. I know, it's not valid rationalization. Please help me ![]() ![]()

Move! Sounds like the left coast is calling your name. Did a 300mile ride of coastline, mountains and desert just 2 days ago. Although it could use a bath, I will not be breaking out the polish.

I washed mine today don't feel too bad.....
I had to clean the mud/salt mess up from a full day of riding yesterday. All typos and misspellings blamed on my phone. |

I thought it was a felony to clean a KLR beyond hosing off the big chunks.

A shot of Wd40 and a rag takes off the bigger chunks or the stray chain lube,
you know, that chain lube that says it dont fly off the chain? Yeah, right. The other detailing item I like is a canister of those baby bum wipes. They are handy on the KLR for keeping hands and other cracks clean too. ![]() Ride on brother.

That's disgusting.
![]() A KLR should never be that clean. Next you'll try to polish the swing arm.

I think those wheels are clear coated aluminum.
Chrome polish will not work on them. If you want them to stay that clean and be easy to clean next time hit them with some sort of simple wax. Plexus or simply Pledge will work.

Yea, they didn't polish in the typical fashion but, the polish had enough detergents in it to get off grease and tar and give them a bit of shine.
I used the wadding chrome and metal polish |
