In the set-up menu, go to fuel sensor resistance settings - you could select the resistance, or select OFF mode.

I don't think my 2853 has that option. I just looked at the pdf manual again and it makes no mention of it either. I'll check again when I'm home tonight...

Temp sensor
My Acewell came with a temperature sending unit. I am using it for oil temp:
It is the M10x1.0 thread: Sending unit seated in place: I used a crush washer and some gasket compound. No leaks so far: Still no leaks: On a water cooled bike one could use the sending unit for water temp, but for our old airheads why not use it for oil temp? It does function properly and I now have an oil temp reading on my Ace:

That is on my 1975 R90S. I previously had an oil-cooler/thermostat on it but it was removed and traded away. If you have the oil-cooler/thermostat you will have to find another location (methinks) for the sending unit. Perhaps tap into the oil pan? That was my original plan; seems simple enough. But I ended up doing it as pictured above.

I bought the ACE-4454AB http://www.acewell.co.uk/Acewell%20S...ion=full&id=41 , and the ACE-TES temp sensor http://www.acewell.co.uk/Acewell%20A...ion=full&id=32 . This is the speed sensor - http://www.acewell.co.uk/Acewell%20A...ion=full&id=61 .

cleaning up the wiring question
So I'm doing the Acewell and a Baja designs head light converted to an H4 high low, Eastern Beaver relay mod, and making a switch panel with an acc plug. I was wondering what you guys are doing with all those bulky connectors to make them look clean?
The mess: I keep thinking aircraft canon plugs are the way to go. But it would mean repinning something like 80 wires. ![]() So, hit me with your ideas/solutions for a clean install.

If it's not something that has to come apart, I solder and heat-shrink.... it makes for a small diameter joint. I found it useful in doing the harness-to-Acewell connections after I cut off the big headlight molded plug on the Slash 6....

That charge light on the side...
Wow! was really happy to find this thread! I have a 1981 BMW R100RS that I've converted to a Cafe Racer.
I recently ordered the ACEWELL speedo because the big old plastic ones are horrendous and the originalspeedo was inaccurate. Your post got me 95% of the way through the installation, but I couldn't get my mind around having to install the charge light separately, so I roped in a mate of mine who is a car electronics propeller head and he provided me with a simple way to use the LED in the ACEWELL speedo rather than the work around you have suggested. We simply wired in a relay to replicate what the bulb would have done and it works perfectly. If you need a diagram and pictures, I'm happy to supply them. |
