I asked an expert on wine tasting how you pick up a taste for different wines, and he told me to "drink as many as you can, you'll figure it out". This seems to be exceptional advice, and I don't see why it wouldn't apply here. He also told me to pay not too much attention to the official tasters and reports, just go with what you like. A fine fellow.

Except that almost all wine tastes like shit. "Corn or watermelon seeds"? Does it matter? It's all awful.

Boomer, you could have a fine scotch collection as well if you didn't feel the need to finish the bottle once opened.

Paul, Makers needs to be mixed. It's pretty darn harsh for a bourbon (46 is a tad mellower). But Mountain Dew? Try ginger ale.

I fall into the like or dislike category with scotch as well, but actually prefer bourbon.

In years past we've had a whiskey buffet on Rally Thursday, I think a tequilia buffet last year (I'm not a tequilia fan), so why not a scotch buffet? Kind of like a pot luck. Bring a bottle to share if you want in.

Maybe we can send boomer to the U.P. for the night so he doesn't just dump it all into his head

Well, it's not my drink of choice, but if that's what he likes then that's OK by me. I used to drink those, long long ago, in a nasty pub called "The Prince of Orange". Happy daze.

I really like port. A lot. But only have it on rare occasion these days.
