Fiambala

Last year they shortened the stage due to attrition....it wouldn't be surprising to see it happen again this year. Hope not....I recall it taking out 40%? of the bikes a few years ago. Small dunes, very hot and very soft sand. The kinda stage that can throw a wrench into even the most logical of stage/race predictions

Hope Manuel gets his engine sorted tonight as the notorious "white sands of Fiambala" are not easy on a motor

Any guesses on the over/under for fuel boiling issues at Fiambala tomorrow?

Do we know what the temps are predicted to be? If it's above 40 Celcius in town it will be above or close to 50 in the sand....

We've lost about 60 bikes so far.....I say we lose another 20+ tomorrow. Copiapo massive dunes will take the rest of the attrition rate (another 20). I can't see the ASO letting more than 20 dnf tomorrow. My guess

Running hard pack is very different than running soft sand. Rev limiter action is not avoidable in the sand

Bruce Garland recorded 65degrees in the car at Fiambala once.
Ouch.
INcidentally, he isn't past WP6. That is also disconcerting.
