working on a few routes now.. I like it so far.. I look forward to the upgrades so I can download back to my gps, hide map etc..
I see someone has made a copy of my western loop route.. but I can't edit or save others.. ? How can that be? or are you guys just checking things out? great start and it's good enough to where I can't get enough and wasting plenty of my time playing with the program

Copying routes - Any interest in copying and modifying others routes?
Inmates:
Currently, users aren't able to copy others routes (Kenaroos route was copied by an administrator for development testing) Currently ALL routes are held in the public library. We will be developing the route library and sharing system in early February. Routes will stay in a private folder while they are under construction. A route creator will then be able to share the route via email invite to specific riders. OR the route could be marked public and viewed in a searchable route library. (search by: zip code, map, creator, rating) ![]() We are considering allowing users to copy routes from the public library with the goal of modifying, adding different portions to the beginning or end, splicing routes together etc. The original route contributor would get credit and the person who made the new modified route would get credit. This function is WAY down the road, but could be pretty cool. Any interest in this idea?

think the coping of others is good as long as they have to rename the file so there is no confusion. having some glitches.. think it's on my side.. spent a few hours tweaking routes last night.. marked 90 miles of turns and dangerous water crossings in my TEXMEX route. woke up and went to proceed with the editing and found that none of my multiple saves took and I'm back to almost square one. ![]() Will we be able to save our road books to our computers in the future as back up?

I would suggest not making the routes all publicly available. Perhaps add the ability for the creator to make them public or private. The thought being that some of these routes are area sensitive and may be created only for a specific event etc. Not that I expect a rampant onslaught of people grabbing routes...but it would be good to have some control if roadbooks might cross through private land etc.

And on the other side, making a good roadbook is a lot of work, so everybody must have the decision if he wants to share ore not.

Also in the Netherlands we have to be carefull in sharing routes on the web.
It's already a gentlemens agreement not to share tracks and roadbooks in the open over here.

Sharing would be OPTIONAL
Guys:
The default setting would be PRIVATE. Sharing could be done with select users OR shared to a public library. We will get to this in February when Dave P. is back from Dakar - no progress till then. Thanks for the feedback, Mike

just a couple of questions:
1. how many murders were there in the older bivouacs that were put down to frustrated rage from having to cut and tape all the pages together. it must have been a fun exercise when youre tierd and have sore hands in a hot sandy dustbowl bivvy with the wind blowing the pages away, sand covering the tape and the flies sucking the moisture out of your eyes and exploring every other facial opening. 2. following on from this how do i get work to buy a continuous printer that prints on a5 rolls and whats the best one? haha 3. the text box just has continuous word wrap regardless of the return/enter key. is there any benifit in being able to use return/enter put text on a new line. keep up the good work.

3 questions. - 3 sorta-answers
Mr Swamp:
1) Lets just put It out there: taping roadbooks sucks. Although, some people (HogWild in talking to you!) enjoy watching others suffer as you described. 2) I've been searching around for a continuous roll printer, looks like most blueprint shops have roll fed printers 24" inches to 48" plus inches wide. Again, HogWild is way ahead of the game here. If there is sufficient demand, I would love to eventually purchase a roll fed printer and be able to produce and ship roadbooks to users within north America. Haven't really looked at it yet. 3) you are correct about the text box. For now, you can just cheat it by adding additional spaces. Thanks for your patience as we get all of things sorted,
