The Helio Courier also has "automatic" "air driven" LE slats. Socata Rally does too.

No Spitfires In Burma After All
Well I'll be damned, there are no buried Spitfires after all.

"The archaeologists have concluded that evidence does not support the original claim that as many as 124 Spitfires were buried at the end of the war, the BBC's Fergal Keane reports."

Im so sorry to do this.... but I spent my day with the collings foundation heavies. Flew from New Smyrna Beach to Sebring, FL (about an hour) in the B24 Witchcraft (formerly dragon and his tail). Got to climb nose gun to tail gun as I wanted while in flight. I have to admit, I really enjoyed sitting in the nose gun, buy myself watching the florida swamp land flow by as we flew through rain. Something very peaceful about it.

I've got a couple hours in one, 25 yeas ago as a low-time pilot (which I suppose I still am). It was a cool airplane for a guy with under 100 hours to fly in comparison the the old C-172 I was usually stuck with. The trailing link landing gear also helps with STOL performance, since it allows you to really drop it in without concern.

Took the day off yestereday because I was supposed to be out at the Barry Goldwater bombing range, shooting A-10s and F-16s, dropping practice bombs and strafing targets. It was cancelled at the last minute, so I went out to Scottsdale airport to catch some flying machines out there.
