Mike, When are you heading to OsNF? and are you hauling or riding in

I'm planning to leave Friday AM, and will probably ride the 690 over.

I washed the GS for the first time in 2013. I better do maintainance and repairs before it finds a wallow and I have to wash it again.

Bikenut was breaking in the "New" C-14, & couldn't break 90, so I guess Ray was taking it easy for him... I cut out when we left Thomasville, had things to do in the shop..Take care & hope to see you again...

I can't leave until Friday PM. Planning on hauling over. That ride would be a long ass haul with my 27 year old seat.

My seat turned 68 yesterday.

BTW, having tried all the obvious sources, I ax you machine-savvy folk where to get a pair of 7mm X 38mm bolts, suitable for securing a rod cap to the connecting rod of a 15hp fo' stroke outboard. Grade 8.8 won't cut it. Hopn' for 12.9.

Went for a short jaunt down by silver lake yesterday. Put in 60 miles. Conditions were about perfect, but lots of hunters. And dey wuz not huntin' rabbits. Watched a 8-year old nail a deer in the torso from 50 yards out while putting around on fh-13. Haven't seen that in a while.

Going riding tomorrow afternoon. Probably unload at Cliff Lake around 2:30-3ish.

My XR. I'll be trucking over and unloading at Cliff Lake and go from there. Got enough fuel for 100 miles

Yup, the woods are full of 'em. I was 'toasted' Sunday before last by some Einstein with a rifle in one hand and a tall Bud in the other. About 0900 in the morining.

Yesterday, me and two other riding buds got stoped by the FWC just west and a bit north of Silver Lake and asked for our OHV passes, which two of us had. All three of us got to continue cuz we were all street legal w/tags. (In thirty-five years of riding the ANF, this is the third time I've been stopped)

They were apparently prepared to give us rules pamphlets and let us go, had we been found to be illegal, but it's sort of interesting that they (the FWC) apparently don't know the rules themselves, cuz whereas we were well back on an OHV trail, street legality does not entitle one to ride the OHV trails, only a NFS OHV permit does that. I assume that federal officials would know that, but perhaps not state.

Most interestingly, however, is that they had clapped handcuffs on some hombre who was equipped with a truck and a big belly. Don't know what that was all about. Didn't care to inquire.

General Gun runs its course this year (in zone D) on 2/17 and primitive weapon on 2/24.

After that it'll be time for the NFS to begin to replace all the shot-up traffic signs, and time for us m/c riders to enjoy the forest again for a while.
