Thanks UpSt8, yeah I've been pretty surprised with the pictures it's been able to take. I still need to get a real camera and figure out how to use it. Some of the HDR pictures posted by the inmated are mind blowing.

Hi BRUTSQD. Great ride report and pics. Thanks for taking the time to post.
Your campsite at the Salt Flats on top of the mountain brought back memories. I've been there but didn't spend the night... Most of the time a trail that dead end is a pain, but once in the while you get to the end and you've got to stop to take it all in. I felt that spot was one of them... I see you rode with a GPS. Would it be ok for you to share your gps track? Or even a google map of your dirt roads?

QSrider, I actually didn't really use my gps much outside of Colorado and Utah. I found the trail next to the flats by looking at sattelite imagery and zooming in to see established trails while I was driving around in the dark. From bear lake Idaho I followed the top 1/3 of the UTBDR route from ID south all the way to highway 50. Absolutely loved the trail, fast, scenic and close enough to civilization at regular intervals to pull off for supplies aka beer. If you go to the UTBDR website you can download their tracks as I did and jump on the trail wherever is closest to you. This next summer ill be finishing the souther portion of the UTBDR and doing the ORBDR and WABDR in the early fall. Hope this helps, happy trails

Thanks for putting this together. Great trip and pics. Are you using the Klim Ralley jacket that's like $1300? I'm looking for a solid all weather riding jacket.

Not the Ralley, I'm using the Badlands, absolutely love it. Haven't been through a summer with it yet but it wound up being plenty warm with layering down to 20F.

Maybe I missed it but how long did it take to get from Bear Lake to Highway 50 on the UTBDR?

Hmm, my mistake, I actually didn't go all the way to 50 now that Im looking at it. I made it to highway 40 and cut over to strawberry reservoir and out to parkcity. Took about a day to get there, mid day to mid day with camping in between. Great trail.

Right on, thanks for the info. Looks like a great ride. I checked out the UTBDR site. It looked tame in some areas and not so tame in others. Were there any areas you skipped since you traveled alone? I'm thinking of adding it to a ride this summer.
Thanks, j.
