Yep. Kids now-a-days (in many places) can't even go into their own front yards or walk to school without some sort of supervision. How's a kid going to learn how to be independent with those sorts of restrictions?

I'll probably check out the Hobbs range. I'm ok with shooting at paper too. And, since beer cans quit being made of steel, they're not as much fun to shoot anyway.

(is my age showing...???)

Hobbs State Park has a free 100 yd range, not sure if you can shoot cans and water jugs, but paper targets are fine.

Doc, you sleeping in? Morning boys.

The FAA just grounded all the Boeing 787 Dreamliners due to battery fires of unknown origin.

That Hobbs range is nice, ive got a couple of buddies that go there pretty regularly.

there are some neat trails in that area too, I think it would be fun to goto the range via boat.

took a boat back in there, and dropped a buddy off out there years ago, back in blackburn cove, came back that evening to pick him up, he had a wild turkey he had taken with a bow.

well , and he had a bunch of ticks and chiggers too, but I was only impressed by the turkey.

ive ridden/explored back in there a bit on bike, it is an area im planning on exploring further this coming year.

its the rectangular concrete looking thing on the right side of this map/pic

I feel safer on jets. Too many moving parts on a piston driven motor.

very few moving parts on a gas turbine, I agree.

BUT, most prop planes have better glide slopes, and you can feather the prop and slow your decent.

if you loose a gas turbine, all you can do is listen to the fadec try to relight that bitch as you fall back to earth.

I feel safer in either a jet or prop plane than I do in a cage or on the bike.
Given a choice, it seems that most of us tend to choose the most dangerous method of travel

Sure air travels safer. But the hoops you got to jump through to get on the fucking plane make me want to shoot people in the face, hence the reason I don't fly anymore, cause it's safer for me and TSA agents.

yeah, I like the taking off, and the landing, otherwise, airports are a hassle, and thats too damn many people in that little aluminum tube for me.

airports are like walmart, its a wide array of people, amusing and annoying usually.

Last fall I rode up to the range at Hobbs State Park. It's pretty nice. About 10 stations, sturdy benches, 100 yd. range, target frames, overhead protection. The only down side is that it is a bit of a trek from Fayetteville and it looks like the road can get a bit iffy with regular rain.
