Those two new bikes from gas gas/beta are somewhat of a crossover. Kind of a trials bike with a seat and a bigger gas tank and street legal. Probably close to the older trials bikes, but with all the added benefit of new technology. I bet they'd be a ton of fun in the woods.

They do look pretty awesome.

There was a Beta Alp in the Flea Market a few months back up in Charlottesville that looked like a great deal, I think it was an 04 or 05 and he only wanted like $2k, and it was tagged. My dad is big into the "trials touring" thing and it would've been perfect for that.

Anyone local have an old engine and/or a carbrator they want to sell cheap or give away? Doesn't have to be pretty, clean, functional, etc.

My 10 year old is showing an interest in engines and such and I would rather have him tear into something already broke instead of pulling apart his 50cc peewee and risk not putting it back together right.

I'm over towards Kempsville and Centerville in Virginia Beach.

I have a trashed DR350 engine, its yours. Its even partially opened. He can have fun assembling the jigsaw puzzle.

Deer collision? That sucks! I hope you're OK.

My wife came within inches of a new hood ornament for her car a few nights ago. She thought she had hit it, but it was just the ABS kicking in, thank goodness. We hit a deer (I was driving) several years ago in her Suzuki XL-7 and did $1,800 worth of front end damage and it was just the size of a large dog..

I heard a statistic that 1 in 200 drivers in Virginia each year will hit a deer, that's incredible.

Although I appreciate wildlife, those things are varmints and need to be hunted year 'round.

It's because Virginia drivers won't stop for anything, up and including a red light.

I grew up in Western New York where the deer are the size of your average dairy cow. They total cars. I managed to drive for 5 years up there and never hit one. Came close, but never made contact. My friend, who thought he was Mario Andretti's distant lost cousin, managed to bag several with a few different cars.

It's accident avoidance. Some are better at it than others.
