Good point, those aero power ratings are at around 20k feet. There was a tank/torpedo boat version of the merlin that made around 700hp but I don't remember the weight.
I guess we are getting off topic, but how much power would the merlin make on 91 octane nolead? The original merlin made about 1050hp on 100 octane ethyl (IIRC). I love old Aero engines! They are like 2000hp swiss watches. Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk 2

If the MOTUS fuckers aren't at Daytona with production bikes, I vote that GB locks this thread and/or moves it to "needless dickery".

They are having a bit of trouble with the red tape and government regs. I wouldn't be putting any money down on that bet.
I hope they get it sorted as I am (for the most part) against having to meet the vast majority of useless government regs. Just a bunch of unnecessary crap dreamt up by ignorant public employees in an attempt to try to justify their pay check. If you are pissed about the MSRP on the Motus Gov. Red tape is the reason above all else.

![]() http://www.epa.gov/otaq/roadbike.htm On a quick look at the certification test data for 2013 (Nov2012 data), there is no evidence of 'Motus' being listed as a certified mfg or any other engine that might possibly be the 1600cc V4. Could be that Motus has the paperwork submitted but not in time for it to be published? cheers, melby

Another Excelsior-Henderson here, except they sold a couple thousand bikes before going belly up.
