PD tank investment
Consider it an investment
After seeing the PD tank prices on e-bay etc. I'm almost afraid to use mine when going offroad and risking dents ![]() Some time ago I noticed that the german company Wunderlich had mounted a 35 liter aluminum tank to one of their very nice concept bikes. The tank looks totally identical to the G/S PD tank. Would be interesting to hear prices + details about it. Link: http://www.wunderlich-bmw.com/en/shop/16/1/1/ |

TAG PD tank
The PD tank looks great, but is expensive to get and any rider above a certain height is precluded - as your knee is further forward than the side step.
I just got a kevlar version of the PD tank from TAG in Italy, they still have the mould from back in the 80s and can make reruns. See below for Desert Piston's example. The side step is pushed forward (approx 40mm) and has a more of an open angle, so should work with the legs. Its light and has internal baffles to limit petrol slosh. Can post some photos if y'all interested http://www.desertpistons.com/4strokesd/TAG/Tagindex.htm |

I saw the '97 price guide and they were $850 (or so) US dollars. I would imagine they've gone up a bit since then.
http://micapeak.com/bmw/gs/tagprice.txt I am seriously considering one of these. I've never even sat on a G/S with the PD tank so I had no idea there were height issues (femur length more specifically) with that tank. I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam.... does that preclude me from the "sits comfortably with a PD tank crowd"??? Chad M screwed with this post 01-18-2013 at 12:04 PM |

Cool. You owe us photos when you get all your pieces back. Deal? I'm curious to see what they do to your frame. I've always really liked the look of the work they do, but have been very surprised at how little information about TAG is available on the internet. I tried to contact them a few years ago as I was curious to see if they were still in business, but didn't have any success.
![]() This thing is just HOT: ![]() I'd be curious to see better photos of what looks like their own paralever design.
