Austin area ride help
Giday mates, i will be Austin for 3 days at the end of january, fri sat sunday, looking to ride all three days. Im from maryland so i have no idea where to go. I ride a gsa but rough and dirty are ok. Does anyon ewant ride of can you give sugestions where to ride. Short adventure rides to 800mile days its all good. Thanks Nick

Hey Nick,
I'm not exactly in Austin....really live outside of Waco about 90mi north. There are tons o fun little roads all round the Austin area. Here's a link to a Google map several of us have worked on..listing all those roads. You might also want to have a folding map to use on the bike since the Google map is mainly for use while on your computer.

Well, this will be fairly tame as far as rides go, compared to the others. http://www.twtex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80761 It is our monthly Pie Run. Folks from all over the state head to one restaurant to meet up, have lunch and pie. I suspect there will be a group heading up from Austin, but it hasn't formed up yet. Depending on the weather, it can end up being direct if it is cold or wandering if the weather is nice.

....& I've got the little paved goatpaths to wander around on while heading either to or from Hico if you decide to use that option. We might even be able to gather up a few other folks to put a small group together while meandering.

There are 2 places in Camp Wood. The one you want to go to is 2 Fat Boys BBQ.



I had the brisket, ribs and sausage. The humminbird cake and buttermilk pie are also recommended. Bring a cooler so you can bring some pie and cake back for breakfast.

DO NOT SKIP LIME CREEK ROAD!!!

It's an awesome twisty road and could probably be ridden all day. If you make the time, ride out to Leaky, TX and ride the twisted sisters, HWY 335, HWY 336, & HWY 337. Another good twisty road.

Be careful on Lime Creek Road, Google it up and judge for yourself based on your skill level and risk tolerance
