Yeah, I worked in Orange through the '00's and Robby had a local rep as a hot head from a number of stories. We've all matured since then, I hope. |

![]() He reminds me of myself in the weekly company meetings. Anyways I not humping his leg so I just came to say that all you sorry cage fans have it all wrong, Rubby didn't get beat by girl car drivers, he got beat by a bunch of ex bike racers.

ADVRider perspective...
Quote:
klatelm makes an interesting observation all of these guys above have in the past either won or competed at the top echelon in DAKAR, other major international cross country rallies or ISDE/Enduro competition as pro or factory supported riders. Even RG (who did some mx as a kid I understand) has chosen ex-bike/baja racers as his Dakar navigator on repeated occassions; Kellon, Andy Grider, Johnny Campbell. An interesting observation... I've often wondered how Von Zitz and Picard would have gone as drivers...?

Vision
I suspect the reason for seeing so many motorcycle jocks in the vehicles has to do with "track vision". Those of you who race, or have raced bikes, know that the key to winning is the ability to avoid problems created by the track. That kind of vision comes from experience and those who have raced cross country/enduro/motocross have a well developed sense of where unseen problems are.
I am enjoying this thread quite a bit. My days in the woods with a rally car go back to the era of Satch Carlson and NO, there were no young girls used or abused. |

You're one hell of an interpreter, I had no idea what he was talking about. Robby got beat by two people this year, himself and Peterhansel. Mr. Peterhansel knows how to drive a car. It'd be nice if Robby wasn't so abrasive and could draw a few of these guys into some American racing like KOH or Baja or his new stadium series. I was there the first time Walker Evans competed in a rock crawl, it opened up a whole new world for that sport, nobody was driving with a V8 smashed to the floor like Walker drove that day, he didn't win, but it changed everything. |

Mr Peterhansel knows how to win and has the temperament to do it again and again.
I like Robby. He damn well knows how to drive as well as anyone. But he lacks the halter on his emotions and brain me thinks.

Yeah, he's still fuming over Peterhansel calling him a liar and a cheat. Can't listen to that kind of stuff. How about the race between 10,11,12th positions, tightest race in the top 15. They are gonna be on the throttle hard for the last 15k. ![]() ![]()

Gordon is done!!!
![]() ![]() I sure do wish the full race had been run. I suppose I'm more of a 'Camel Trophy', 'Baja', 'KOH' type of fan, finish the course within the time limits or you're out. Ok, this thread will continue with the King of the Hammers competition!!
