I still wonder why they both got a 15min penalty for swapping engines between riders that are still in the race. Should be allowed IMHO.

Well, could be. As we never know when the penalty is apllied, Marek's could be a new engine (for which he would have got 15') and the change to Despres used, 4th gear only would have got him another 45'. In that case he would still be with Despres original engine (without 5th???).

Hmm, if he changed with Cyril that's 15mins then changed again at the rest day (nice fresh factory engine for his trouble) that'd be another 45mins making 60 mins overall. Sounds as though you're right.
