Here it is with the front end on for good. The swingarm is on temporarily while I figure out where I'm going to route the shocks remote reservoir and hose.[/QUOTE]
Here is how i routed mine ![]() It's pretty much in the same spot as the XR, but there is no tab for the clamp. I just used a hose clamp to secure it to the frame. The carbs and boots are off in the pic, but there aren't any clearance issues. hope the pic helps you, glad to see you're making progress! |

I'll have to build a longer hose and mount bracket but it should be a factory looking set up (at least I'm hoping ).

I used the same shock on my XL and mounted it in the same place. My variation is that I just used one larger hose clamp around the shock body and frame both. It stays put very well and has been mounted that way for years.
I did respring it finally years ago and that made a tremendous difference. |

Here's the simple but effective bracket I came up with to mount the reservoir.
Please ignore my craptacular tack welds. I'm taking it to work to get it welded right. The bolt holes are offset because of where it mounts. You'll see later on. ![]()

No, nothing to do with the airbox.
Here it is properly welded with a couple coats of Dupli Color semi-gloss black.

Lamebrain, thanks.
Brian- LOL. I've actually been thinking of trimming down somewhat but can't decide which ones to turn loose of. They all have a purpose.

Naw, keep em all if you can says I
![]() So, what is the tool of choice to get the valve cover off the bottom of the external reservoir? My spare shock needs servicing from my parts XR5 and it still has the stock, domed cover press fitted on the end. I've tried to remove it once before, but didn't want to further risk injuring myself with the tool I was using in my lame attempts to pry it off

Anybody have an extra set of grommets and the steel collars that go in the frame to mount the top of the rear fender? I need a set and they're NLA from Honda.
I'd be happy to buy them from you if you have any you'd care to turn loose of.
