My son James is a paraplegic currently setting up a Canam Renegade 1000cc off road Quad here in Australia for some big desert trips. We are having problems on longer trips with him getting blisters on his ass and I have seen the seats that Doug Henry has set up on his motorcross bike and skidoo using a mountain bike shock and swivel mount and I could do with contacting Doug directly to see if he could give us some design tips, my son is an aircraft engineer and is very good at fabrication but getting the info from Doug would save a lot of trial and error.
Understand you will have to check with Doug first but we would appreciate your help as there is very little assistance for paras here wanting to continue in the off road world.

Here is a bit on James's machine.

You might also want to contact Chris Blais at www.blaisracing.com
He runs side-by-sides in the desert, so the seating situation is of course different to your son's, but he might be able to help out with ideas.

His wife is a member here under the handle Gidget.
