Application/mounts for 2008-12 Yamaha WR250R/X?
Hi!
Just noticed your product, which seems to possibly be most advanced on the market today!?! A few questions... 1)- Do you have a specific mount for these New Long Range Optimus LED lights to go on the Yamaha WR250R or X (NOT F model). 2)- Do these lights have to be mounted straight up or can they be mounted sideways at a 90 degree angle, with the mounting screw to the right or left, in case I wanted to use the same holes and brackets where the front amber reflectors are presently mounted on this bike? 3)- What is the maximum draw on the power supply (370 Stator on the WR250R) 4)- What all-around set-up would you recommend for night riding mainly on the street and/or out on the open road or out in the sticks? 10 Degree on right and 20 degree on left for wide angle? Based on what I read somewhere in this thread?! 5)- Also, where are those units actually manufactured? 6)- Bump Thank you for your time! Thank You for asking. These are by far the most advanced LEDs on the market. We do not have any model specific mounts as of this time. we do have other solutions that should work well on the WR. Mounting from aftermarket bark busters are popular with the dirt bikers. . These lights can be mounted in any configuration even upside down. The max draw on the single LED is 10 watts Your WR stator wont even blink at running these lights. The best setup is really dependent upon what or how you really ride. For myself thats the 10 deg light in most any situation. They work very well on the street providing the most distance.and if aimed properly in conjunction with a fair headlight provide the good fill and the most distance. If I ride off road I also run a helmet mounted setup. For a slower pace, tighter roads and trails or where you might not have a decent headlight a 20 deg or split is very nice. The OPT is manufactured in Korea under US engineering and supervision, wire harnesses made in the USA Thanks for the Bump

I appreciate the fact that your product is NOT "made in China"... (South, I presume! I am going to put a set of those lights next on my short list for when the bike will go in the shop for full Spring service and installation of other farkles. I was going to go with your competitor, but now, since your product is much more advanced, it will have to be my pick.... I am glad I waited and found your site... Guess was meant for me to wait until I found you, ey! Will be in touch again soon. J. |

This brings up the question, why not? I'm trying to decide these as Aux lights vs some MR16 HIDs.

In order to get a Quality long lasting LED you need good heat sinking, heat sinking is heavy. We are looking at ways to reduce the weight of the high powered LEDs and develop the long range into a helmet mounted light, for now they are just simply to heavy for helmet mount. Its coming for sure. They (LR) do outperform the MR16 based HIDs in every way, when you consider the reliability of the LED over the HID, its no contest. I would highly advise going with the long range LED over the mr16 HID for bike mount.

Do you have any pictures and/or descriptions of the dimming switch and wire harness? I'm close to making a purchase. I just can't figure out if I want two 10 degree, two 20 degree, or one of each. Thanks, |

The handle bar switch we are using is in the photo, I"ll get pictures of the complete harness asap. We are setting this up to give the riders options on install preferences. A rider can set the lights up to work solely from this 3 way switch, or operate the high portion from the factory high beam switch on the bike. A customer can chose to substitute handle bar mounted a on/off switch for the 3 way if they choose. This switch also has provisions to run other Aux lights from. Non dimmable harnesses come with a toggle switch.

Cool switch! Fuzeblock? Which Recommended?
Quote:
Nice looking switch here! Also, I am thinking of adding a fuzeblock when I get all my electrical done this Spring... for add-ons like Hot Grips and GPS Powerlet. Which Fuzeblock would be best? Any of these listed here? Just thought I would ask! http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Wi...PC-8/pc-8.html OR http://blackdogcw.com/black-dog-shop...-1-detail.html Thanks! |

I'm sure both would do a great job. I'm asked quite often about how to wire in lights. Personally for my own use I like to have lights when the bike is not running or the key is not turned on. Why? I do a lot of bike camping, Its very nice to have good light while setting up camp on those late days, I don't want my Fuel pump and other equipment on the bike to be running during that time. The drawback to doing that is that you have to remember to turn the lights off, something I have forgotten to do on occasion. Push starting a loaded 950 is not a lot of fun.
