The word becoming is superfluous.

Yeah Poppy, quite proud of that manifold! Started with an Edelbrock tunnel, welded in injector bungs, made the downtubes from the throttle bodies to the manifold, runs 4 XF throttle bodies, capable of flowing 2400 cfm thru the throttle bodies but wouldnt be able to flow that thru the ports. I just went out and looked at the linkage setup, musta been smarter 15 years ago!
Basically, if you pull on the rod closest top, all the others work, somehow

Anyone in Adelaide who might be able to look at a car for me?

Hello from the other side of the world,

I have a bit of an odd request, but I though I might be able to get some help from the Global Inmate Network.

My brother and I (here is the US) and looking a buying a late 60's Aston Martin (I know, not a bike!) and we've found an interesting candidate in Adelaide. Here is the listing: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C273459

Anyway, before investing in a 20 hour flight to check it out, I thought I might see if I could find someone local, a trusty ADV'er, who could take a quick look at it, make sure it is real and legit, and not some kind of shady scam (I could tell some stories about other cars that looked good...).

I realize Adelaide is a big area, and I don't know exactly where the car is, but if anyone is interested, we would certainly appreciate it, and I'm sure we could buy you dinner when we come pick it up in exchange for your time.

Thanks,
Rod

Hi Rod,

Adelaide covers a vast area, so I rang the vendor. I was thinking about taking a mate with me to look at the car who races Classics and is a panel beater involved in some restorations, to help you out. Ends up that the car is at Port Noarlunga which is a long way away, but the good news is that the owner 'Chris' is a mate of my mate and is the Clerk of the Course at a local race track. For what it's worth, it all sounds genuine and my mate can vouch for him having owned the car for a long time, it's the talk of the racing fraternity here because of its great condition.

For what it's worth!!

Good luck with it.

Trev

PS Sing out if you're coming over, I'm sure some of the ADV reprobates here will get involved in an old Aussie tradition and 'shout' some visitors...

looks like any other stovetop espresso machine. can get great coffee out of these things, fresh ground beans just before departure in a sealed container should see you through. will taste better than pre-ground supermarket coffee. the effort you go to is how much you like your coffee. milk is your biggest problem.

the alternative is to adventure ride down around Leichhardt, or get the nestle condensed milk/coffee mix in a tube....

Cheers

Rob

Get a stainless steel coffee plunger when Aldi has them. From what I've read perculators ruin coffee. I have a semi professional coffee machine at home and I can get a good brew out of a plunger. It comes down to fresh beans and a good grinder. Most coffee snobs will tell you if your on a budget spend $500 on a grinder and use a plunger till you can afford a machine.

Of course you can't take the grinder on the bike, so your limited with taking pre ground. Otherwise one of those Italian style pots that you put the coffee in the top and it boils the water through under pressure work good too. You can pick them up for around $20 and sit it on the campfire. I don't like them because their aluminium, but they make a pretty good brew and are cheap enough to lose.
