Some Ice sailor fell through on Peewaukee lake this weekend. The comments on FB where the video is posted are (surprise) ignorant. "It was 40* out, what was he doing out there? IDIOT"

Anyway. On the fence for Saturday, lots of choices. I'll figure it out sometime Sat morning. Sunday at Pete's for sure. Looks like ice will be in place by us. Seems with last Saturdays wind, the ice sheet didn't want to stay in place and started piling up on the east shore.
**edit** Wow that's a phone unfriendly picture! http://wilakeweather.com/lake-winnebago-moves-east/

suddenly I want a giant bottle of booze and the worlds biggest cup!
Talking to one of the guys at work he described the scene on roads along the lake. Cool to see. I figured southeast side would still be good. You should finalize saturday plans on friday night for those of us not 3 blocks from the lake

Yay! I'm sure loud bikes have nothing to do with it either.
The Town of Oconomowoc is meeting tonight & one of the items on the agenda is an ordinance to effectively prohibit the operation of motorcycles on frozen lakes in the town. There is already an ordinance in place, that was passed last summer, to limit motorcycles (only motorcycles) to 10mph on two ponds near Randy's Waterline bar. The ordinance also prohibits "wheelies", "sliding" & other activities. Notice this ordinance only applies to motorcycles. The discussion tonight is to decide whether to expand the reach of the ordinance to cover all bodies of water in the town. The ordinance is worded to say that the reason for the ordinance is to protect safety, but it is obviously based on dislike of motorcycles in particular, because riding motorcycles on the ice is no more dangerous than any other vehicle, wheeled, tracked or otherwise. Also, I have not heard of any incidents involving motorcycles on ice that could possibly justify singling out motorcycles. This ordinance is not about safety, it is about someone's prejudice against motorcycles. If you live in the City or Town of Oconomowoc please come out & help try to protect our use of the lakes. Spread the word - if you know of anyone living in the town, please let them know. Thanks very much - |

as I've said before, I can't wait for the DNR to be out there with a sound meter!
It wasn't too bad last weekend when we were pretty far out there, but if nothing else people pulling away from shore at full throttle still pisses people off. (nevermind the snowmobile drags or whatever was going on) Last year one of the guys (Jim) worked a 90 degree pipe elbow into his exhaust tip. It didnt' change the amount of sound coming out, but it pointed it straight up and that made a hell of a difference. Be nice if some others were to do that
