I reckon most manuals (including 640 KTM manual) result in the chain being too tight. Just sayin.

Better loose than tight (for KTM chains anyway )

When you go to p/u the machine take along 30 feet of rope.
If you are not given the rider's manual, the fork and shock manuals and the tool kit complete with the KTM bottle opener...show the salesman the rope that you are authorized to hang him with or offer to weave a rope from his own hair to accomplish the same.

The rider's manual gives specific instruction on adjusting the chain as well as measuring it for wear.

Unless you are using non OEM links it is accurate.

AFAIK that's all there is, maybe Gunner or Tseta or Clintz, Works to surf, etc know more about the literature, there threads on rebuilding are priceless.

The manual has some hidden gems of wisdom in the reassembly section and the wiring diagram is a necessity. I took mine to the copier and blew it up to a much larger size.

I have read some of these threads... Note to self, make time for more reading!

I printed out the wiring diagram in colour ( a 2002 or 2003 diagram, if memory serves, from one of these threads) but really like your idea of enlarging (and laminating?) it.

I put most pages back-to-back in those clear plastic sleeves and then in a binder organized by section, so if I need to refer to them while working, it is easy to find, take them out and they wipe off after I'm done!

PS if some of the guys you mentioned above could chime in too, regarding if they have heard of a manual, that would be great!

There is special paper for a copier that is waterproof.
I went to the local college library and they had some, did me up for pennies, I had to join 4 pieces with clear tape.
14X20.

It's been priceless.

Interesting... I have some mountain biking maps that are waterproof and tear resistant... They feel a little different to touch than regular paper. I bet this is the same stuff that you are referring to. I will have to check at my local university. Great idea! Thanks!

Yes, I figured it out when I opened my eyes, I only saw one muffler at first.

That is an unusual and expensive 640 setup for the whole mc.
Wonder what the original plan was?
