I never said better was last longer, I am talking grip, wear, handling. I don't like the metzlers because there is no tread in the center. The first Z6 rear I took off was thinner than I thought in the center even though it was down to the wear bars.
How the tires handle when worn counts too. If the rear gets a flat spot, leaning over can be odd because the edge. Once leaned over they seem to be fine. The PR3 on other bikes seems to wear more even or keep its round shape. I have only had my R1200R for a few months, so I don't know about other tires than what came on it when new. PR3 has tread and wear bars in the center. PR2 is the only front tire I wore out the sides before the middle on my RT. PR2 on the rear of my versys still has a round profile after 6,000 miles. Right now we have snow and temps in the teens Fahrenheit right now, so all I can do is talk about riding...... 2 more weeks till ground hog day..

WTB - R1150R Flyscreen
I'm looking for a flyscreen to fit my '04 R1150R. I want to experiment with cutting it down, like my helmet to be in clean air like my 90s was. I only need the screen itself, scratched screens are OK, thanks.

Riding down the pch and my clutch cable broke! And of course the dealer doesn't have it and won't until Tuesday. So much for the long weekend of riding...
I probably could've made it home without it but didn't want to risk it. So I called AAA ![]() But on the plus side my ram mount came in! ![]()

Great thread guys! My first bike was an R1100R which I loved. I've always wanted another R but kept pulling the trigger on GSs. I guess cause of my height and long legs. I'm sure the WC R1200R will be sweet. Personally, I'd love to see them do another R RS bike!

PO had it made at Rick Mayer. Very comfy but about an inch too tall for me to flatfoot.
Looking for options...

I have an '04 r1150r also with an MRA screen that attaches to the oem fly screen brackets. I t has an adjustable lamar lip that is great for highway and town. Got the screen from Twisted Throttle. Very happy with it.

Backrest
My wife has decided that she MAY take up riding agin but would need a backrest. Any idea's on aftermarket backrests which would fit a 2011 R? I've found a site where a guy built his own, this is an option, but not a favorite one (lazy). Thanks

Thanks, that came out nice, however, Im not looking to put a top box on anytime soon. I've got an old GIVI E55 which has followed me on two bikes and 90k miles, been a great case. It will hold a bag of ice and a case of beer, just makes turning into corners challenging with all that weight up high sloshing around.
I may have to make a plate to clamp onto the luggage rack and some brace's similar to what youve done. Was hoping for aftermarket solution. |

04 R1150R Rockster
I'm going to look at a 2004 BMW R1150R Rockster (non-ABS) with system cases and about 20k miles. From the photos, the bike looks to be in very good condition. The dealer is asking $6500, which seems a little high. KBB says $5500 retail and NADA says an average retail of $4145. On the other hand, low mile BMW's seem to be commanding a premium these days.
Any thoughts? |

Color
The white models are more desirable than the copper or lime green models...
