I just mounted a pair of the "New" Old School Jesse Bags.
They are replacing a set of BMW Bags that are up on Ebay right now. For the most part I am pleased with the Bags as well as the mounting system. It seems to me, and I am no engineer, that the mounts strengthen the rear assembly rather than weaken it. Maybe they finally got it right. Bear in mind that it's 10 degrees outside so I havn't road tested them as of yet but I don't forsee any problems.

I just noticed the current Jesse ad in the MOA ON. They featured the Big Boy Bags, or whatever they are called. One pic showed a couple sitting down inside one bag.

I have these on my R80G/S and for paved road touring they work great. They also make for a great work bench/kitchen. Unfortunately that isn't really what I use the bike for and I thoroughly dislike them when used even on gravel roads. My last two excursions put me on a pot hole filled forestry road and each time one pannier, which was empty, came loose and started flapping around. I can only imagine the damage it would do to my sub frame if they were loaded. The problem is the pannier is only connected at the top by two bolts and the bottom is "attached" by a plastic block that has a slot where it shoulders up to a useless support bar. I have ordered a set of Expedition Dry saddle bags from Wolfman for my off road trips.
