I have over 50,000 miles on mine. I have had many bikes in my over 20 years of riding, and this is the ONLY bike that I have never considered trading-in or selling. The only issue was that the clutch had to be replaced because of a clutch slave cylinder leak. I've used it to tour, commute to work, go off-road (trails, not rock hopping), and it has NEVER left me stranded. I've also owned other BMW's and say without hestitation that this model is the answer I was looking for. Prices vary from town to town, but I think that price is a tad high. That said, If you have the same experience that I have from this model, ANYTHING that you can actually pay and not hurt yourself or your family would be worth it. Because of it's limited years, it gets a lot of looks, and a lot of questions, so, be ready.

Thanks for the responses, which I was able to read before I got to the dealers.

I ended up buying the lime green rockster last night for $6K out the door (including tax, title, license and an oil change). I'm happy with the deal since the bike had a few extras such as an aftermarket exhaust and PIAA running lights. It also had BMW system cases and a removable back rest, which I will probably sell off. The dealer will drop off the bike tomorrow (it's snowing here today).

My little R...

I had a 1984 R80 that same color. Not as pretty as your bike though.
Had the same bags on mine and my friends kept asking why I needed two typewriters.

Photos coming soon. The dealer called and said there were going to delay delivery for a couple of days to fix a faulty heated grip they discovered while doing a final run-through of the bike.

Any thoughts?
The dealer is asking top dollar at the price. I've seen scads of R1150R's and Rocksters out there from private parties on the $4500-$5500 range.
I came real close to buying a Rockster with 6K on it for $4500 obo....

I'm thinking about puchasing an R1150R as well. I really would like an R1200R but financially I don't think it's going to happen. Other than new technology, what will I be missing? Power and more weight I'd imagine.

Alot. I was feeling desperate for a change to a R-roadster and thought the same, R1150R is a good compromise.
Glad I waited.
The 115o is a grreat bike, but the R1200 is a handlin' mofo, with alot more power on tap. Just a complete newer gen bike than the previous.
I just saw one on CL in CA asking $7800 with lotsa farkles and 24K.
If you can spare the hussle the extra, it's well worth it.
But the 1150R is a fine momo.

Are there any dual sport tires for the 1100r? I would like to do some gravel roads...
