I think it is super cool. I would love to have a diesel engine in my sidecar rig.

It's definitely nice work shoehorning all that into a BMW frame. But if it gets 83mpg, wouldn't the original tank get you over 400 miles?
Maybe the other tanks are for the bio-D. With no saddlebags, it would seem to be relegated to city commuting or hack duties...

Why not put a diesel generator in the sidecar and convert the bike to electric?

BMW's motor design is based on an airplane engine, however earlier models of this motor had a flaw that was finally removed in the R75 model. Additionally, the R75 is known for reliability and endurance. This motorcycle has 19,000 original miles and would be quite a prize for a BMW enthusiast and the economy minded. I had planned to change the point system over to a Dyna III electronic ignition, which would give this motorcycle additional, power and fuel economy. However, there are some that are concerned with the possibility of an EMP from a solar flare or nuclear attack, in which case, you would be one of the few with a working vehicle since this motorcycle currently has not electronics to be effected. You can pay cash or barter. I am interested in cnc milling machines, kwik switch tooling, possibly other tooling, lathe with large swing |

Yanmar waterhead
I can't imagine what that thing feels like idling at a light. I have a Yanmar 3 cyl in my JD 955 and it shakes that 4000# tractor like a pitbull with a cat in it's mouth. Cool, but not as friendly as you might think.
