Are you guys finding those Holley filters for cheap somewhere?
A quick search on my end showed they run about $65 here in the great white north. It's not a large filter and with a paper element is not serviceable. From previous experience I suspect would have to be changed at least anually for my riding. I wish we could source the original filter, that's just annoying! |

Final verdict
Ok, back home after about 1,600km's that included about all types of riding except single track...
I would declare this mod a success! - bike didn't miss a beat, lower fuel consumption trend continuous, recon it's as good as stock when new! Can't comment on longevity yet but with the replacement filter elements available I'm planning to swap them out every 20k km... So far so good... Happy to answer any specific questions anyone may have. |

Fuel Filter - Golan mini
Just installed the new fuel filter. It is a Golan mini with 1/4" barbs. S/S 10 microns.
here installed below the seat ![]() Here the filter with the key for judging the size ![]() and inside: the filter is S/S and washable ![]() here the Golan link: http://www.golanproducts.com/filters.html If I would do it again I would buy the Super-mini, it is the same filter in a still smaller housing...

Well I bought a HighFlow fuel pump and fitted it today. All good so far, though 2 things to note:
1. the supplied connector tube from the pump to the fuel filter is too big at the filter end. Had to insert a sleeve to get a good seal. 2. Lots of grey watery fluid came out of the fuel filter. Is this normal? I would have though that this should be periodically replaced but it is not on any of the service schedules.

Not full story?
I don't think the screen filter is the culprit ... Mine came out perfectly clean...
For me the inline (silver canister) filter above the pump was clogged. I did some surgery on the canister... Results below... ![]() Looking grey and sooty ![]() ![]() Black paper... ![]() Idea of what the paper should look like...yellow is the 'clean' side of the filter element ... |

EasyJet ...
Thanks for posting that... it looks pretty ugly About how many miles did you have on that filter, Were you fueling with gasoline from mostly "civilized" places or .... ummm "more interesting" gasoline suppliers? |

Km's & fuel
Filter lasted 65k km...
Living in Canberra Australia saw the bike gets fuel from majors 99% of the time... Probably 45% of km's are off road; I commute every day on it... A few trips west saw using independent stations... I kinda think it did rather well all things equal... |

Thanks Pete ... I'm following too many threads ...
![]() The Holley having the replaceable paper element is the way I'll go as well! If you can snap a picture of where you ended up locating it that would give me a leg up, but no big deal! JRWooden screwed with this post 02-18-2013 at 06:05 AM |
