Sorry about that, I should have updated this earlier. I've had it back a little over a week. It's running great.
When they looked at it at the shop they thought the cam chain was a bit (2mm) loose, and the cam chain tensioner wasn't working properly.
So they replaced both along with a $2.00 guide.
Running now like it has for the last 13,000 miles. (and hopefully for another 15,000)
They can't say if it was their fault, or just normal wear and tear.
I told them it was very coincidental that it occurred right after their valve adjustment.
They let me pick it up, and said we'll work out the bill later. Needless to say, I'm not bugging them to come up with bill. I'm sure they'll catch up with me soon enough.
Pretty sure we'll come to a fair solution.
I'm ready for another trip! It's interesting how experiencing a trip like this doesn't just check the box and fill in a "need."
Instead it just wets your appetite for more.

wasn't aware that the cam chain and tensioner was a common fault with the 650 engine. Maybe a bit of bad luck or a servicing issue. Look forward to further ride reports.

You know----I really enjoyed the ride report and the scenery though at first I thought it was going to be a 'come on' advertisement for Wyoming University football recruiting. I hear they tell prospects that there is a hot chick behind every tree up there in Laramie? That might be a great theme for your next rife report., ????

Ha!
I went through this thread a week or so ago. What a trip. I hope we can come close on our next one.
Or,, we could just do the same ride, only ride it the other way. Only problem I see would be going "up" the big hill..
Be a whole different trip seeing it from the other direction. Ha

"I will make a trip back to the Medicine Bow Range. I've driven by it many times on vacations, but never even got off the interstate. It's worth a trip of it's own."

It is so funny that you guys rode so many of the same loops we have done over the years. Just this last fall rode through Hog Park and spent two nights above Encampment. When you get back there, you NEED to ride Battle Mt. Two years ago we rode through there loaded up. This last year we made a point of getting back to it. That road is so good we wanted to ride it sans bags. Rock and roll good time fun. Our ride report (which is also slow in making...look for Tour de Wyoming VI) is nearly to Hog Park and Encampent. And while you are in the country make it to Saratoga for the free hot springs!

Judging from the colors we must have been a week or two behind you guys. Good work on a great ride and making it happen with your buddies!

This is from our ride out of the Mangy Moose enroute to our camp. That place is awesome.
