Watched the movie Senna last night on Netflix instant streaming. Very well done documentary on the life and racing career of Ayrton Senna. I highly recommend watching.

If you truly want you voice to be heard, you need to call or write to your representative yourself...online stuff such as emails, petitions or this Ruger thing are too easy, and thus, are not taken seriously.

Of course it is better to call, but I do think these are taken seriously especially in large enough numbers because you actually have to do something and in most cases people can't be bothered to do anything!

The way I understand it is each official has staff that wades through their emails for them and tallies up the 'Yes' vs 'No' sentiments on different topics. They then put together a report (daily? weekly?) for the representative so they have an idea of the temperature of the concerned citizenry on different issues.

Since the 'gun control' furor started up again recently I've been sending one message a week to my state and federal representatives via the NRA ILA website. I don't use the form letters, but craft a simple straightforward statement of my opinion. Each time I've gotten prompt replies from those I have contacted, mostly form letters, some more personalized. I don't believe the NRA would waste it's time having people email their representatives if they didn't see it having any impact.

I find so many similarities between MC riding and Firearms issues. If sending an email via the AMA counts so does one thru Ruger or the NRA. If the loss of off road areas has taught us anything it is that silence is just another way of giving up.
I loved it when someone on another forum commented sending letters will get you on "The List". I responded that being on "The List" is better than having them think you support their quick fix ideas and removing your rights by proxy.
