All those old miner shacks start looking the same after a while. I guess I need a hint or another pic with more mountains in it.

I know that one too but this one is in the San Juans.

Know what you mean Tom. Tons of these old buildings scattered through the hills! This one is in a side gulch between Howardsville and Eureka. Same name as the one that got towed down to Silverton for the museum.

Different angles...

And we're back from break ....

Ladies and girls, it's time to get back to the game. I'm pretty sure that by now we all have some new pictures -- I gave you long enough.

Here is Canadian ADVrider Motoaxe standing on a pretty cool geological phenomenon somewhere in the Southwest.

Give me one of the two names it's commonly known by.

Where is it

I don't know what its called but it looks like an acid stream created by water running through rocks containing large deposits of sulphur usually bought on by mining of hard metals,it also looks like remnents of mining activity in the background. It looks to me like the mine on the west side of HW 550 just across from the old town of Ironton about 7 miles south of Ouray, right behind the okd school house.

Not a bad guess Chris, but it could be considered Crystal Geyser's little brother. Try again (a bit further west)

Soooooo, how do I break it to you gently? Sorry, but incorrect on all guesses. Not mining activity but ranching. Not an acid stream but iron-bearing water pushed up via CO2 gurgling up from below. And as far as it being near Ironton..., well no, it's in the middle of a desert (look closely at the background terrain).
But in all fairness, I think using a picture that was taken with a funky "cool" effect probably threw you off track; the colors have been slighly altered by the effect.

Still waiting for a winner.

There are numerios CO2 geysers out there in Utah, Tumbleweed it could be, but the background does not look correct. So I say champagne geyser.

Looks like it has just about dried up.

Here is the best CO2 geyser in the US, Old Faithful of California which I have visited several times:
