Well, I had a cascade of KLR tinkerings today. What started as a re-fitment of my old supermoto front fender to replace my broken one from my last ride...
Broken beak. ![]() ![]() Then I decided to swap my 16T sprocket for my 14T. Been doing a bit of DS exploring lately and less trail riding. Then I decided to clean up the rear end as the swingarm tips and axle adjusters were chock full of dirt. Then I decided to change my rear wheel bearings and grease up the whole thing properly. Then I decided to weld up a fat foot for my side stand. Tried to drill a bunch of holes to lighten the thing. Holes in the bottom were filled with silicone to keep water and mud out of it. If I were to do it again, I'd plan out the hole placement a bit better so I could make more holes. ![]()

Its a good thing that I am a very visual person, and that youtube video
It wasn't too hard, but some step by step instructions would have made me more comfortable... before I got it totally finished.
About 2/3 the way through I was quite relieved that everything was getting into place. |

Thx. I considered the puck mod some time ago. With my suspension setup, I didn't feel that the extra inch of sidestand height was feasible. Sits pretty upright already.

Can you feel a difference in the handling with 9 holes in that footplate?
Great job on the plate mod, the KLR's need it, but on a 400 pound bike, I don't know that 9 holes are gonna make it walk on top of sand.... sorry, just had to needle you on that one brother... You would gain more by keeping the bike clean!

If DirtyDog has the sidestand switch intact then a lighter foot is less likely to cause trouble.
