Burnt Oil/Rubber smell

I have been experiencing a burnt oil smell. I can seem to locate where its coming from. It is very prominent when I get off the bike after anything longer than a 10 minute ride. I have no oil leaks, cant find anything melting . The only mod on the bike is a Remus exhaust, and I removed all of the smog equipment. Any ideas?????

Could it be chain lube on the exhaust?

Stuck or dragging brake? Check the rotors, especially the rear (front would be more noticeable as you ride), does it look burnt or discolored?

Sometimes after changing the oil (and being a bit sloppy) I notice this smell. But since everything works fine who cares? Dave

I'll bet it is something between the header and engine or skid plate. GH

pop off one of the side cowls and make sure nothing dropped down on the headers, people have had their fan housings do that. Also just look for anything else in there that is touching something hot. Mine always smells a bit "cooked" when I bring it back but I ride the hell out of mine!

Sometimes mine smells like warm dog chow.

Ferking mice.

Did you figure out what the issue was?

As of today I havent located anything out of the norm. The front of the bike is apart getting some fork mods done right now so that has been my focus. As soon as this is done its onto the back of the bike installing a new fully optioned Hyperpro and trying to locate any sort of leaks cuasing the burning smell. Hopefully I dont find any raccoons, possums or rats in the bike anywhere!! :)
