Wonder if there's ferries or boats that could get me and my KTM 990 from one to other. Maybe it's a pipe dream but then what else is there to do this time of year?

Also, the big bulge of land occupied by Pukaskwa NP. Are there roads closer to the water than 17?

And I'd really like to go to Michipicoten but might be too much of a hassle and $$.

Just the hopes of a Chicago guy who hasn't seen the area since 1971.

Thanks.

I fly over the east side of Lake Nipigon every week. The view from the plane, and Backroads Mapbook show an aweful pile of roads and trails in the area. It's pretty remote for the most part though, you would probably want a SPOT.

Don't think the Supermoto slicks would have made it up to Aldina

Ask Old Fart at Play, or Lappeman. It was raining. Rain slick logs, trail like riding on ice. SM wouldn't make it.

(and I've ridden a street bike where it should,t go! :) )

Ron, I believe they went in from the south and walked their bikes thru the rocky section just before the tower. I dumped my KLR650 about 10 times on those rocks No such problem with the Ktm530 Different story on the north side now...as you know.

Glad to hear your still alive and kicking, hope you get in soon! Take care!

That ones complicated...we'll have to get a group of hardcore riders for that one. We'll chat more on that one when you get back in shape

Looks like no problems and a great trip so far Hekto! Noticed the nice little dirt devil off to the right in the first pic. Saw a ton of those in Nevada/Arizona. Looks like the Mountain riding would be a blast!

Thanks guys

Hekto, ZZR Ron & Lappeman.
I've only got a week so I don't want to stray too far North or West of Gitchee Gumee. Looked at Backroads Mapbook. But I'd need to buy 2 different ones for about $55. Money probably better spent toward a GPS. Is there a good source for GPS maps? de Lorme? Yes I saw Cannonshot's reports. Have done a couple long enduro safari roads with him in U.P. ( Been to Crisp Point.)

Would be fun to ride with you all. Find the best beer. .

Ted

Hey Ted! The Backroads Mapbooks come in GPS form also. I know Ron has one of them, he might be able to comment on it. I just have a Garmin Hcx Vista and Canadian/USA topo maps. Should be a nice little trip...I know if you have a limited time, so it's hard to pick your weather but remember that it can be extremely cold along the west and north shore of Superior even in the summer. Have fun!
