Joe...didja bust some ribs...??
Back in late '72 I had just suffered a get off at the San Jose Mile...limped my sore ass back to the truck when I passed Dick Mann...he was seated and trying to figure out how to put a boot over a very swollen left foot. I stood there for a moment awed...Dick Mann for crying out loud...!! He looked up and said to me, "shit assed way to make a livin', ay kid!?"

Very cool. I raced motocross for 22 years. I always wanted to try flat track but just never got around to it. We used to always go watch the OKC half-mile, always a good time. I watched the mile at Claremore the two times they had that too. It was awesome. Too bad the spectator turnout was so poor...

Nah ...but I was at some of the races in the movie. I was at the Sacramento mile when Jim Rice got off and busted his beak. I was a Ford Foundation brat ...the educators traveling circus. The perk was... we got to see some great racing!

Never did any flat tracking but it looks like a lot of fun. Has to be a big adrenalin rush, going that fast. All the competition I ever did is enduros. It's a lot of fun too but you can get hurt doing that too. Voice of experience here. I go down to Gruber quite a bit, you'll have to come down there some time. I know you were at the horse charity ride, because I saw your KLR, don't think I met you though. I was on a KLR the same color as yours.

Yeah...I was moseying over to visit with you about the time the family showed up and never got back around. We have the twin '08's!
Flattrack was what I wanted to do... Dad and I did not see eye to eye on that one! That was what made it so remarkable when he showed up with that brand new '70 Suzuki TS-90...! WOW!
