When life gives you lemons, make lemonade?!
![]() Just weighing options and staying open to any opportunities that may come knocking. Nothing decided yet, but L.A is an expensive town to try and make/save money in. Looks like by the time i have enough to leave i'll probably be chased by the winter down south of the equator as well.

So been working on the KLR some and getting ready to leave L.A except instead of heading south i'll be heading north. Worked all january but i'm still leaving with less than i got here with, still trying to find more work but it's not easy. If nothing comes through in the following week i'm hitting the road. If it wasn't for the help of the advers i've received here i'd be even worse off. I decided to head north and try my luck, volunteer at some organic farms, see northern california, oregon and just see what life throws at me. Maybe some day i'll end up crossing that border on two wheels but for now this is as good a plan as any.
The bike got a used aluminum bash plate and a fork brace as well as new EBC front pads and a stainless line. I swapped out my worn rubber for the shinko 244's i was saving for south america. Welded up a bracket and mounted a tool tube. Also mounted my one good case as a top case and managed to trade a set of Pelicans an adver hooked me up with for a set of wolfman saddles. (wanted to carry less gear and drop weight) Managed to find some NOS Meier hand guards and mounted those up. Also spent the doug on a used older Garmin gps and was gifted a ram mount. The bike is riding great and is just about ready for the road say for a valve check and a few odds and ends. Wish i could do the race tech springs and have the front end sprung like the rear but i'm broke enough as is. She just hit 17k and i left miami almost 5 months ago with 7k. What a ride! Still working on pics and stories and trying to get the RR up to date so please bare with me. I'll do my best to catch up before leaving and will continue to update from the road. ![]()

Good luck where ever you go. Glad you your bike is running good and you got it sorted. If you do it right, Norcal doesn't have to be expensive... but for me it was. I rode up HWY 1 in April and it rained on me almost every day. It was nearly impossible to find a hotel less then $100.
From the way the ADV crowd has reached out to you already, I'm sure you will have many couches to crash on ![]() I hope you can still make it into Central and South America... but where ever you go.. it will be an adventure.

Yeah I said he was welcome to stay and use the tools but I didnt say anything about him using my ATV Lift.
It has now been tainted by a KLR. Guess I have to give it away...any takers? Seriously...I have two of them and only need the one. If you want it then donate $50 to this poor bastard on the KLR and it is your to pick up. At least it goes to good cause.

You know after all the KTM owners i've met in this trip i've noticed one key difference. KTM owners work 9-5, play around with their toys on the weekends, dream of someday taking a RTW trip when they retire and generally love to brag about their superior expensive machines. KLR owners quit their jobs, life, sell everything they own and go see the world on their reliable cheap jap contraptions. Just a thought lol
