Mark, dont feel wussy. I think I am going to drive now. The roads out my way this morning was the worst I have seen them in 2 years (for being slick). We got about 3" of snow last night, with the first inch melting and flash freezing with 2" of snow on top of the ice. I probably could get the bike down the drive on Sunday, but doubt I could get it back up. I will make the decision about 10am Sunday morning.

My really cold weather riding is sliding the sunroof back and turning the heater on...

Thanks for the good read and hello from Minnesota. I enjoyed your thread, especailly the Sofa on the XT225 and the BMW650 down in the mud. A bike like that could concour that trail easily with knobbies, not so easy without

Hear that! I was up in Fredericksburg last weekend camping with my son's Boy Scout troop and the backroads were covered with cinders. Almost worse than ice!

Drove the Jeep into town a couple of hours ago. Country roads slicker than snot on a minnows back. Started to melt with the sun being out, but now it is snowing again, harder than early this morning and last night; good thing is temperatures are above freezing right now. Still planning on going to the cafe in the morining, may take a little longer (about an hour or so from the house).

feb 18...
59 deg...close enough...
Rode to work today...lucky i dont have to go in very early...of course that means home in the dark but at least before the rain hits at 8. It was a windy ride in...the vstrom sits high and doesn't like crosswinds much. Staying relaxed and centered in my core, keeping my head a little lower...using countersteering ALOT...

I got for a short spin after work today as well. It was WINDY as hell. I bought this little beauty last weekend and this was the first time I had a chance to get it out. It doesn't like the wind :) But it sure is fun to zip around on! 72 CB350

made it out
I made it out too. I was working all day as fast as I could to get home and ride for a little. The XR could be used as a sail on a boat in a pinch, with me on it especially.

Dual sport Louisville and southern Indiana
Nice ride on the KLR today, a bit windy but backroads were great, except for the cinders! Im just west of the Floyd Knobs area. Hope we can all get together this year, take a ride, and BS. There are 5 in our group, 3 KlRS, 1 09 Yamaha wr250X(motard), that is now a great off road toy as well, and an old fart who is my long distance touring partner, hes getting a dual sport if we have to buy it for him!
Just curious if any of ya'll are doing the March Moto Madness down in Tellico Plains TN in late March. You can ride fire roads, 2 track, single track, or the dang Dragon if ya really want to. My friend Dan at gsmmotorent helps put this on, expecting 200 bikes, great free food, camping, and riding, its a WIDE range of bikes, many ages, many states, but we live the same dream. Email me for info, its on facebook as well, we cant wait! For a hoot I started a you tube page titled Indiana Kentucky KLRS, I getting ready to post ALOT of DS rides from Indiana to Tn, the vids I have on there now are not my posse, but we will load some soon. Kinda new at this youtube, but I got alot of go pro footage! See ya, B arry

Thanks Tim. I found it on Lexington Craiglist with a dead starter and buggered spark plug hole. Both were easy and cheap fixes and it runs like a top. The carbs have been rebuilt and it has a Pamco electronic ignition to replace the points. Chrome is excellent and tires are almost new. I'm going to play with it for a couple months and when it warms up it will be for sale. To fund this:
74 CB450 bobber project I'm working on. It needs a little more work as it came in several boxes. Come on spring!![]() ![]()
