No way BMW could have made the sale without assigning their Loncin contract to the buyer. This won't go on forever ... but for the time being I'm betting Loncin will be supplying motors to the NEW Pierer run Husky operation.

In my neck of the woods, most Husqvarna dealers are BMW dealers. I suspect this will sever the relationships, and leave Pierer looking for new dealers in short time. Maybe we could get a fire sale going on?

If this is true....no I dont think BMW did.

I may be off base, but BMW has nothing to loose and everything to gain by killing off these bikes.
And boy does BMW like to kill off 650 singles, they dont even bat an eye at it.

While the sales do look good, in the end they are a bastard bike in the Husky line up.
They require a special computer system (sure sounds a BMW based one to me) to service the bikes that no others do.
Heck not all the dealers even have it yet.
Under BMW ownership and the direction they seemed to be headed, the bikes made sense.
Under the current owners they really don't.

Killing these off may very well have been part of the deal.

And, when the deal is final, BMW will no longer supply any BMW parts or engines to Husqvarna.
Additionally, all BMW employees at the Italian Husqvarna plant will stay on BMW's payroll and return to Germany..

The forks are 48mm Showa's not Marzocchi. Probably built to BMW specs like the F800gs. The ECU's are Marelli, not not Bosch. Will that $5,000 special tester for upgrades reading faults going to be around? Is the plastic bike specific?

Not trying to talk anyone out of these bikes, but be a little reasonable, some repairs aren't going to be fixed by wishful thinking.

I was looking at these for a replacement for my KLX 650. The reason being some of the engine parts are no longer made. It is simpler tech.

What I don't understand is how BMW could pony up all the money to intro this bike, create a dealer network? force them to buy bike specific equipment to work on them, set up a parts supply organization and then drop the company in an eyeblink. Some dealers are going to get hurt in this deal and BMW won't care. Typical corporate mentality.

I am going to wait a while and see how this shakes out.

Back on the steel swing arm thing! He'll even the $7k KLR has a nice alloy swing arm! Shame on you Husky for price cutting production costs to increase your margin. Produce an alloy swing arm version for 2014 and I will buy one!

I collected my Terra today...bit of a wrong day aqs it was raining hard for the ride home..but so far I am finding it very nice...looking forward to making some changes and improvements but so far its just barkbusters and the sump guard...

My opinion? Zero. On the other hand, if all of the patents transfer, a better question would be, what are the chances of bringing the 630 back? Probably not so good; it was expensive to build, and going backwards doesn't appeal to most companies (though I'd buy one). But, a new 630-based bike with an ADV focus? Hmm. Maybe.
