Great place to ride. SWMBO and I were there in the Zed4 close to your dates and the weather was nice, could be a bit cool at the upper reaches.

Picos 2013
Hi, will miss you by a day . Booked into hotel Nr. Potes - 1 May- 8 May.
Two Africa Twins & 1 F800GS. First trip to the Picos, after sampling the Pyrrenees a couple of years ago. Boat to Santander, then make it up as we go along. Hoping to do some gravel travel ( I understand booklets are on sale in Potes showing Off- Road routes ). Good luck on your trip. regards .......................tobuk |

I live in Oviedo, 100km away of Arenas. I cannot join you, but if you need some info for routes or something pm me. (i don't think so cause all the roads are fine, even the C roads)
Eat cachopo, fabada and drink sidra, and it would be better if you make to spanish schedules (breakfast at 8-9h, lunching at 14h, dinner at 21h) Enjoy.

Picos
further to my thread on March 19. re. vsiting the Picos.
Have just got back from a very satisfying 7 days & 10,000 hairpin bends ( a few of which I got right ! ).Varied weather, wet-2, v,hot/sunny-4, indifferent-2. On arrival the San Gloria pass was closed with snow but we rode it on day 4. Both the gorge roads were " interesting " waterfalls right across the roads, loose rocks & on one blind corner a wheelbarrow full of collected rocks in the middle of the road !!!!!!!!!!! Stayed @ Pension La Pisa in Aniezo, 9kms south of Potes. Very comfortable, good food, drying room. English Ex- pats so no language probs. Took the ferry to Santander (£300-return ) one and a half houres into Potes. would recommend the area if your thinking of going to northern Spain. Hope everybodys summer trips are as good...................regards, tobuk |
