The roads here really don't allow you to go all out this time a year, with wet leaves everywhere and mud tracks on the tarmac from farm traffic. I did have the front step out on me once though, when I finally found a clean fast corner. Nothing to dramatic however, perhaps an inch or two and it got right back on track again afterwards. And I think it was my own fault to be honest, I was a bit jerky on the handle bars for some reason. Perhaps I'm a bit of an odd rider, but rear wheel slides often scare me more then front wheel slides when they come unexpected. My driving style usually doesn't seem to require a lot from the front end of a bike for some reason. Granted, the first owner is responsible for half of it, but I made that BT0021 last the full 31.500km the bike has done so far, and the same goes for the front brake pads. I wish was so easy on the rear too :(

Perhaps that's the reason the BT0021 wasn't as responsive as it once was though, I did just take off a 9 year old tire after all...

Whoah! that is epic, I've never got close to 10k from a front, 6k & the rear is stuffed! Admittedly we have very course granite chip seal on the roads down here. My UK TDM gets better tire mileage.

Yeah, I wish I knew how I did it. I always have some chicken strips on the front too, yet never on the rear. I thought that was normal until I saw your photo, lol. I'm not exactly slow though

This one was a bit extreme but I still always get somewhere between 18.000 and 26.000km out of a front tire before I get up to the wear marks. Perhaps I learned to ride this way subconsciously because I thought myself how to ride on a souped up Honda MT50 with a terrible front tire that I never replaced @ 16 (I spend two years on that thing!). The front break on that bike was terrible too, so I guess I just learned how to make due with a really good rear brake by necessity. I don't think my riding style has changed all that much since then. Well, except that I learned how to stop crashing all the time luckily.

6K on the rear is pretty average for me too, if there are no track days involved anyway. I didn't change the last BT0023 until it got to 10K though, but it should've been changed much earlier and was a slick when it came off. I took about 2000kms to long doubting which tires to replace them with.

I don't know if you've ever rode through NL, but our roads are pretty smooth in general from what I've seen so far (most of the EU, but I've never been off the continent yet).

Aaah, the chicken strips or lack of on the front are a bit mis-leading. Firstly the profiles are mis-matched so i run out of rubber on the front before the rear & the biggest thing... I practice motogymkhana, lots of full lock & lean turning, scrubs the front in beautifully.

Does anyone know a good way to remove these shields from my exhaust cans by the way? I've considered swapping sides so the logo would be on the inside thus less visible, but I think I've seen a few of these Lasers without logo so I'm guessing there is a better way to get them out of sight?

Just pulled my engine out of my 1992 TDM 850. Made a time lapse of the process. Also filmed with a helmet camera all the steps, but havent edited it yet, not sure if that is something that people would want to see or not.

Dear fellow TDM Riders,

My TDM 850 is back home in India and now back in Muscat, Oman i brought a SuperTenere 1200, i guess i am the first buyer of SuperTen in the GCC, the Gulf.

I have only rode for about 100 Kms so far, below are the inputs.

1. Bigger, Taller, Heavier and wider than the TDM 850
2. Seating position is high, good when the bike is running, not good when you are on uneven surface as im 5'9 and not able to touch my any single foot fully even in lower stock seat configuration.
3. Fuel consumption is better, (may be my TDM 850 was almost 12 years old)
4. Cornering is better in TDM 850 (guess, i have just ridden only 100 kms on SuperTen, may need more time)
5. Definetly feels king on the road comapred to the feeling u get in TDM 850
6. Yes, the vibrations are still there at speeds over 120 Kmph
7. Lots of electics and electronics compared to TDM 850, but is all that needed? this depends upon your riding preference, the lesser the electronics the more offroad, dust, slush and water capable..
8. Better wind protection than stock TDM 850 screens

I am yet to do full technical analysis of the bike, i shall update if any shortly. below are some pics.

Excluding the Gondwanalanders, , what are you doing with your bike this winter?
I am going to pull the swingarm, clean off swarf, check/grease bearings, replace chain, sprockets, tire, etc...
No centerstand sux... portable swingarm stand doesn't help.
Gonna build a stand that bolts into peg mounts.
