Best Exhaust for the X 650???

I recently bought a Xmoto with a Staintune exhaust, which is annoyingly loud. But I also got the stock exhaust, and have been thinking about reinstalling it. The last few posts would quickly convince me, except that I don't know what I'm doing...

Forgive my total ignorance, but is this a simple bolt on procedure? Is there any remapping necessary, etc?

To replace the stock exhaust to the stock header, you will need an exhaust gasket. All else is simple, although you need to remove the Remus bracket to get the stock bolt back in (at least I did).

I put 2 db reducers in the Remus and still prefer the sound of the stock, but this time I reinstalled the stock can and left the Remus header. Header is slightly shorter and doesn't fit fully into cut outs in stock muffler. I have used a shorten exhaust gasket, clamped and sealed the potential leak points, but will probably need a better solution this summer. To tell which header you have, the stock header shrinks in size from block to muffler inlet and the Remus grows in size.

My current record is 112 MPH on dash which is about 105 true (stock muffler and stock header). In addition to the better designed Remus header, I am doing a PC V, so I may be able to eek out an additional 1 MPH Going up on the front 1t helped me not hit rev limiter in 6th.

Also, most Staintunes have DB reducers - if yours is missing. My dyno tune on a Staintune on an SV650 showed better power with the insert installed.

Thanks for this info. But I'm a dummy, assumed the "S" was Staintune but its definitely Scorpion.

So, if I have the stock header, which I assume mine is cause it says BMW on it, I don't need a gasket, just bolt the old muffler (pipe) on?

stock header to stock exhaust pipe DOES take a gasket between the two.

Got this gasket in today, intending to reinstall the factory exhaust system. It's bent and looks beat up.

I hate to send it back and wait 2 more weeks. Do you think it's usable or not?

That looks like the one from the tail end of the header to the silencer, not as critical as the one on the cylinder. Maybe not the best but I think I would use it. (Disclaimer: This is only what I would do and is not a recommendation or advice, its only my point of view)

(if it's not the one for the end of the can to the header pipe then disregard my comment...)

yep, that is the gasket that goes between the head pipe and the silencer, I would use it.

Does anyone know if there is a SR-Racing dealer in North America. I just bought a X-challenge that came equipped with the Remus pipe that I find too loud and am looking for a quiter solution, I am in Canada.
