Powerlet socket replacement

Does someone know if there is a standard cigarette light socket that can fit the same hole on the fake tank as the powerlet or will i have to open it up a little? Just want a USB charger on the frame and don't want to pay 50$ for every tiny accessory you want.

You could hook a cigarette lighter up directly to the battery. This has the benefit that you are not restricted to 5A like the powerlet socket. On the downside, there is no protection from the battery getting fully drained.

Wire up an SAE plug to your battery so you can put a charger on it... and it will connect to almost anything you can think of. You can get 12V adapters, heated gear, usb chargers, etc.

Was hoping there was someway to make it master switch controlled so I don't accidentally run my battery down. But I guess I could just throw in a relay. I like simple things better

There's a knockout on the opposite side of the key from the powerlet plug. Then it can be wired to the connected that sits just under the cover which is ignition controlled (basically).

Bayner, you're sure of that?

I haven't received my own F800GS (2013) yet so can't check, but I've been told there is no knockout on this model. I asked about it because my K1300GT had an accessory outlet and TWO additional knockouts. I used one of them for a new accessory outlet wired to my fuse block and would love to do the same with the F800GS. Because I was told (I hope erroneously) there was no knockout, I thought I'd have to find a place to drill a new one. I sure hope you're right!

No actually I'm not certain. Knockout maybe isn't the correct wording - more like clearly indicated location is should be installed in. I had to drill the hole through it however.

I hate the old cigarette plugs...big and bulky.... they are absolute shit... you always have to wiggle the POS to keep it working.
