I realise you don't want any domestics; however... Take a look at the 2012-2013 Chevy Impala; last of the W platform.
In November I bought a 2012 with 6500 miles for $17000. All the factory warranty transfered over to me. The car has a factory trailer rating of 1000 pounds. Worst mpg in below zero temps with a short 12 mile round trip commute I get an average of 19 mpg and the best I got is 27 mpg average in November before it got cold. This is a 50/50 mix of city/super-slab. The 2012's and newer have the 6 speed trans and 300 horse 3.6L engine. The car mag's claim the E-85 version when running E-85 will get 0-60 times in the high 6 second range. There are some smoking deals on left over brand new 12's and 13's in the $16k-$20k range. The new body style is coming out in late 2013 so there is going to be pressure to move inventory. They don't hold their value but for a cheap transportation appliance who cares.
