Memphis Fire BBQ in Stoney Creek is a nice ride and the food is terrific. If you haven't any clogged arteries, I suggest the ranch fries with your order.

Memphis Fire Bar-B-Q is a winner. Pulled pork sandwiches are a specialty.

Anyone know if they have moved or what. I know they haved closed a couple of times when business is slow, but all the photos of the place still show the original locaction.
I know that in the fall it was in the only spot I remember (in Harcourt, beside the gas station; was it called "Algonquin Cookhouse"?) The owners bought the diner in Wilberforce and if truth be told I like the Wilberforce place better even thogh it is more of a diner than a restaurant.

I really like the Panzerottos in "La Gondola" in Hastings. You can have them the proper way (Deep fried) or Oven baked if you want. The place isn't anything to write home about but the Panzos are great! (I have never tried anything else there.)

It is on the west side of 45 on the north side of the lock there.

Thanks for the updates Tom
I have any number of routes I can take going to my place up north, I will make one to go through Hastings next time to check it out.
Good to hear from you again.

Brekky in Bracebridge

Try Nicks at 146 Manitoba...Solid brekky and a great old building, you can even enjoy your eggs on the porch if the weather is agreeable. Have an omelet and you'll be skipping lunch!

Hills Maple Leaf Restaurant

Damn near everything in the place has a light coating of maple syrup on it. It makes your arteries hurt just looking through the menu. Breakfast is super busy, so get there early. Ride Shanty Bay Road from just outside Hawkestone on Hwy 11 South to Barrie, beautiful first thing in the morning, the twists and elevation changes make for a most interesting ride. Only takes 35 mins, but so worth it. Watch your speed, the locals are too.

Crossroads on 141 and Aspdin Rd. in Rosseau is a very good spot for lunch. Probably good for dinner, too, but I've never been there at dinner time. Nice indoor or outdoor seating arrangements and excellent service. This place really is a cut above, but the prices are quite reasonable. Not sure how they do it, and I'm not going to ask.

Had the burger and sweet potato fries the other day and it was delicious. Love a good burger now and then and this one hit all the right notes. Lots of fresh onions, pickles and tomato with a hefty slab of tasty beef on a quality bun. Yummy.

Had a locally brewed Muskoka ale that washed it all down in fine style.

4-1/2 out of a possible 5. Sorry, no pics.

One of my all-time favorites is the Hideaway Coehill.. Sas and Derek can only be topped in personality by sas's sister Simone who works there on occasion. Hold onto your hat!!

My Favourite thread revived!

One of my perennial favourites, Marks Finer Diner, formerly of Fowlers Corners/Hwy 7 , has moved to 128 Landsdowne st E in Peterborough. Haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

There's another place we stumbled across looking for breakfast early one Sunday morning. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the name, but it's in Stirling on Mill St., between James & North streets on the north side. It's a tiny little place ( half an old store front kind of thing). Open a 5:30 am ( farmers like their breakfast early). Maybe 4 or 5 tables, and pretty cheap too.

Last night might my wife & I had dinner at a place in Newcastle called "The Snug". A tiny little Irish pub ( I think I counted 6 tables ). Chicken Pot pie, Guinness stew, Guinness Brownies for dessert even! Lots of good stuff on tap too.

This place is amazing!!!

3 course meal for under 20$

fine dining and homemade baking for peanuts!

I got the best steak soup and salad for 19 dollars. The roaming rally was in this area and we stumbled in.

very nice little spot. If anyone is even close to that area you NEED to check this one out!

Wait staff was not hard on the eyes either!

simply amazing... and i am a foodie... this place rocks!
