Well, It all seems to be working out so far with the cheap postage from the States. The Kawasaki dealer wanted $500 postage to send it all to Australia, I got it sent to Reship in the States and they relabeled it and sent it to me for $60.
Just got to get a cylinder liner made from LA Sleeve in LA. $116, not bad. I bead blasted the engine cases the other day and I'm getting ready to put the bearings in so I can at least get the bottom end together. The cylinder barrell is at the machine shop getting 20thou machined of the bottom to take the compression from 9.5 / 1 to 10.5/1.
I purchaced another old style wet liner steel cylinder barrell off Fleabay for Junior.
So its gunna start to get real busy at KLX central in the next few weeks.

hey guys, ive recently gained ownership of a 1993 KLX650r, the engine has only done 5500kms but had sat for a year after my brother made a major rookie mistake when replacing the rear spring, since i got it running november last year it runs brilliantly, but i have noticed that the carby maybe running a little rich as it floods very easily on starts and you can smell fuel when u stop riding. the bike appears in good condition, you can tell it is of age, only minore plastic scratches and the mounts for the radiator to side fenders are worn out, i just have a question regarding the bike: are 650Rs any good at australian enduro's? one in particular event i plan to ride is at Ravensthorpe Western Australia, if yes, is the bike worth reconditioning?

haha im a 16 year old who got a 650 for free mate, sure its 20 years old, dont see any other bikes around that can stay together as well as it has, just seein if the old girls wearth reconditioning

hahaha cheers mate, not everyday you get a free bike thats done fuck all in its life i plan to recon the old girl back to her former state, since soem original parts are hard to find in good nick, i maybe forced to use aftermarket, that includes exhaust, speedo and some plastics, im a second year student in mechanics but have experience behind bikes since i could use a ratchet, hopefully all will go well, if any of you blokes can give us a hand with advice/parts that sort of thing, would be bloody awesome

Cool Ash, I'm happy to help. Carbie over fueling, maybe high float level or too big a an idle jet, or a blocked idle jet and someone has screwed the idle up so it will run on the main jet, or the choke cable is jambed and the choke piston is not sealing off the enricher port. I have a service manual if you need specs.
