at £9075 , it probably won't be cheap, either. That's around £100 more than a CB1100 over there, so unless they twiddle the numbers it would probably cost what an ABS CB1000 costs here - $11,000

Maybe in Thailand it's a winner, but in Houston area, where I live it, would be a deathtrap. Too many freeways with folks doing 70-80mph, with no compunction about running over a small two wheeler like the MSX125. Drivers scare me, even when I'm on my RT. I'm sure it would work in some urban areas and probably fun to ride, though...

Looks like a cute bike, but Yamaha already tried it with the TW200 five years ago. I always wanted the XG250 Tricker, Yamaha made a while back, but it never made it here, either...

Honda sucks. They kill off the XR & CR, which were a great series, in favor of the maintenance intensive CR-F, get rid of the VFR to replace it with a their modern version of Yamaha's GTS, and then come out with all these little tiddlers and half ass efforts at a retro bike. And I'm saying this as someone who has had a Honda in their garage their entire life (42yrs). My next ride won't be "Red".......

I like what I have seen from Honda recently. I think they are getting back on track, which is why I am excited about this announcement. The NC700X is a grand slam home run, IMO. And they needed it. I like the CB1100 as well. And the new 500's should find some fertile ground...

The CB1000 looks like a great bike. If I was in the market for a hot rod liter bike it would definitely be on my short list.

Some of the stuff they have come out with is just kind of a near miss. Take the RS750. Beautiful bike, but if you are trying to offer some competition to the Sportster, it's pretty lame. Not sure what they were going for there. Give me a RS1300 with the Fury motor and a 5 gallon tank and shaft drive. Yeah Baby!

And that DN01 thing. What was that all about?

I liked the NT700V, and I wish it would have done better in the US, but it was over priced and pretty old tech... Still I seriously considered buying one, until I realized how difficult it was to do the maintenance on them.

The VFR1200 is another gorgeous bike to my eyes, but again an answer to a question no one asked. Too expensive, gas tank is too small, racer boy ergonomics... they should have stuck closer to the original VFR formula, say a VFR 1000 with gear driven cams, and gave it ergonomics better suited to fat old guys like me....

Regardless of whichever letters they put in front of it, that 1200 is NOT a VFR.

I'm not angry at Honda for not making bikes I like, I'm angry at them for killing and bastardizing all the ones I did!

Back in the early 2000s, Honda made some great bikes that are now gone. The Valkyrie and Valkyrie Interstate, The Magna, the 750 and 250 Nighthawks, the Shadow VLX (which outran ALL the Shadow 750s) the Shadow Sabre 1100 and Spirit 1100, which were great real world cruisers, and the ST1100, for those who like sport touring bikes. The only one still left is the Rebel 250. The only thing Honda makes now that I might like is the CB1100 and the Goldwing FB6. The FB6 is out of my price range, but it's a neat idea. NOT nearly as neat as the original Valkyrie though. So while Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki has several bikes I like, Honda has nothing. The 700 and 500 twins are to ugly to be seen in public on, no matter how they ride.

Nobody makes decent dirt bikes now, having switched from 2 stroke to 4 stroke, but you can blame the EPA for that.

As for Honda cars, they have always been drop dead boring, with the exception of the mid '70s Civic, and the NSX, if you count Acura, but again too expensive. My sisters Mazda Miata is tons of fun for a low price. The only true Japanese sports car seems to be the Nissan GTR.

If it's the bike in the photo, then I'm sticking with my guess of the MSX125. In cities with active urban cores, scooters sell like crazy. Such a bike would be an interesting alternative.

No, the crosstourer is the VFR on stilts, not the vfr1200.

As for killing bikes I general, it is usually because of rising emissions standards, either in Europe, Japan, or here. I can't think those are a bad thing.

That is a matter of subjective opinion. Aesthetics are cyclical, and the only people I hear complaining about modern styled bikes like the new cb500's are old people, either in heart or in body.

Sounds like they took a page from HD; and HD sells more bikes in the US than anyone.

thing is if they did come out an africa twin update to compete w/ ktm i would go from despising the ridiculous company to respect but yea what a slow decent into mediocrity
