Refrigerator ice maker
Why does the ice from my fridge's ice maker smell vaguely like garlic? I have tossed the ice and cleaned the tray thoroughly, and no joy.

No baking soda in that freezer? Maybe you should keep some in there and one in the fridge.
Garlic or.....bacteria growing in there? Commercial maybe but the crap I found in one of them "apparently recently cleaned" just last month.  Lets say that I don't trust the fast food joints and their ice so much anymore. Glad I don't drink much fountain pop if any.  Bleach the crap out of it first if you can, only way to clean plastics in commercial kitchens. If you worry about a bleach aftertaste and that may very well happen, we use peroxide to kill the bugs in commercial kitchens. It does deodorise also but not all that good as a cleaner for plastics.

Also replace the in-line filter. Usually found somewhere along the back of the top shelf.

You are on well water aren't you? I remember your earlier problems. You may have hard water also building up deposits in the lines. Porous them deposits and once crap as in bacterias etc... gets in them deposits very hard to get rid of.
Commercial ice machine cleaners, the ones that run through the lines are just like CLR by other names. But again we have a pretty strict maintenance schedule altough our water is much better nowadays it is still that, desalinated and if not treated properly.....pretty darn hard. Thick buildups of minerals, you can forget the CLR and that I don't really have a solution.
