Tom,get me some pictures of NO if you don't mind. Last time I rolled through there its was 10-15 trucks behind a D-9 with national guard handing out food and water from the back. The place was destroyed. Much of it was underwater too. I'd like to see how the place turned out. It's been a while since my last visit to crashville too.

Wish I didn't have an appointment with my accountant. Have fun!

This was the best photo you could come up with chronicling your trip so far?

Well, if you're interested, I'm actually thinking about riding Sunday morning instead.

Those panniers full of beads for the ladies? Don't forget to stop by Cafe Du Monde for a beignet!

Danjal, there is still a lot of damage that they never intend on fixing in many areas of N Orleans. However, Bourbon street is back to it's pre-Katrina nasty, vomit smelling disgustingness that only be camouflaged by bare breasts, 151 rum drinks, and darkness.

Looks like you got a deal on some lightly used Gobi sidecases...

I figured bourbon st would be the crown jewel of NO as usual. IIRC the ONLY business open much less standing was Larry flints Hollywood when we went in. Kinda says something about the place. The only other happening place was the dome.

Bad day, dropped the super tanker in a water hole a mile or more from the paved road and it watered out. All attempts to start failed. I pushed for quite some time trying to make to where I could work on it and possibly get assistance before nightfall. An old man from Florida stopped and towed me the rest of the way to the road. I worked on it for a little while and it finally started. Made the 40 miles back then changed the oil which was good considering the amount of gray spuge that came out the vent.

Half the shore line homes where I am are missing.

I worked down there a year after Katrina, looked like a third world country and not in a good way, sad

The creepiest thing to me is the six flags that is abandoned and still has a sign stating that it is closed for the storm.

I kinda wandered into a military training camp. There were mock cities like above, firing ranges and such. I was following the "tank road" at Camp Shelby on the edge of Desoto NF. The trails were closed due to wet conditions so I ended up exploring. Lots of signs warning of picking up unexploded munitions and tank crossings. A few gates were unmanned and open so....
